Best swing type for lower back protection
Any opinions on the best swing type for those of us with less than perfect lower backs?

This is of personal interest because I am presently in PT after back surgery (microdiscectomy). After I get the OK to play again, I'd like to remake my swing through TGM, but I'd like to figure in the concern for protecting my back.

Thanks,
Lou

No Back Pain
Hi loubert,

I have the best news ever! Really, ever. I have worked mostly with golfers for the last 15 years and I am no golf pro but . . . once I let the little yellow book beat me up (only about 4 years ago) and before I had the luxury of Yoda's clarification of Homer's wisdom I started working with my clients differently. Guess what? My people, without thinking I am teaching them golf, no longer have back pain. Now . . . 60 percent of the people who are referred to me (I don't advertise) come with back or neck or elbow issues that are near surgical conditions so this is no casual suggestion and it is no accolade to me. It is truly the mechanics of physical alignment ( ok, that's my work) combined with the very appropriate alignment of TGM and voila, you have a recipe for a healthy experience in golf whether you are a hitter or a swinger; for the record, though, I like hitting.

Notice I said nothing specific. No I'm not blonde (my blonde, female golf friends love this stuff) I'm just careful and I am trusting your health care people. If you can let me know where you are in your process, including how quickly your doctor thinks you are healing how your PT is going and what you did before all this occurred (big stuff here) we can begin to create some exercises that complement and incorporate your present 'good' advise and get you back on the golf course in great fashion.

You are obviously already educated and aware of the advantages of appropriate golf, oops it's called The Golfing Machine, sssso I don't have to sell you. When You choose to share a little more I will go chapter and verse with you.

MY BEST RECOMMENDATION FOR YOU IN THIS CASE; Get a few sessions with Yoda. If you don't live in town, come for a visit. Atlanta has a lot to offer if you want to make it a short vacation. You're starting over, you don't want anymore back surgery, and you want this game. Yoda can give you ,in one hour, what would take months to learn in what I think is still a spetacular book (even though it still beats me to death). Better still, sign up for one of the workshops and bring your spouse. These are always in great places, whether your spouse plays or not. It's a great thing to do together.

I would love to talk with you further with more details. Look forward to connecting, private email is ok for the details.

Vik

Hi Vickie,

Thanks for the great, detailed, and professional reply. I don't usually presume to speak for others, but IMHO, your insight in this forum is an excellent resource to all who visit. I am sure that many others feel the same way.

I will PM with more details of my situation (not that I mind sharing but I'll spare other forum members from reading my sad tale).

Lou
