"Old Man Par" before 2006
After visiting the swamp last December I set a goal for myself to shoot par in 2005. My last two rounds were 75/73 - I am getting close!
I still have a month to go....all the glory will be reported right here.

The clock is ticking....
We've had a stretch of bad weather but it's getting nice here again. I've got 10 days left in the year and realistically I'll probably play another 6 times in 2005. 78/77 this week...but alas....those strokes keep slipping away. I haven't given up on the goal!

Trig,
Make sure your playing one shot at a time. Don't get to focused on the number.
This is what makes the Playing Ability Test hard for aspiring PGA Professionals. They have to block out a set number the P.G.A. tells them they have to shoot for 36 holes.
Let's see it happen!
Sorting through the Circuit Player's Handbook.

Oh, so close
Today was a close one. Posted a 73 which ties my all time best round.
I can't really point to anything specific, I really played steady. 12 pars, 2 bogey's, 1 double bogey, 3 birdies including one on #18 to finish strong.
Four days left in 2005. Can he do it??? I don't know but I'm not sure I care much after today's round!

Absolutely it could happen, Trig. But if it doesn't happen this year, it will happen next year...or the next as needs be.
But happen it will...because you are on the path of continuous progress -- not instant perfection -- toward attainable objectives.
Congratulations, my friend. You've already accomplished more in Golf than most can even dream of...and the best is yet to come!

Opps! I remember thinking I had 15 holes at par or better.
I messed up my post, should have been: 3 birdies, 12 pars, 2 bogey's, 1 double!

The quest is over for 2005
My quest for par this year is over. I've played 15 rounds in the past 3 weeks and yesterday was my burnout point, after firing a cool 93.
But it's all OK. As Yoda says, I know it will come. I started the year with an index of 8.5 and ended with a 4.9. My scoring average dropped from 83 to 78.
2005 brought many, many memorable shots and also the best rounds of my life.
I'm gonna call it a GREAT year!!!
Thanks to Lynn, Ted, Edz, and my best pair of eyes - Bagger Lance.

That was one GREAT year for you. Typically golfers who hit the 8-10 index level improve very slowly as it is so difficult to trim those next few shots from each round on a consistent basis---but it appears YOU DID IT, and in 1 year. G.O.L.F. is a wonderful thing. My prediction for '06 is that you will shoot your par round very early in the season, and then repeat that score, or better, many times. Please let us know when that happens. And thanks so much for your help in making this site such a great place.
