Is Tom Tomasello teaching right arm swinging in his video? It appears to me he is utilizing a lot of right arm, however, in more of a swinging motion than the hitters punch motion.
I've tried duplicating this motion lately for fun and have had some sucess. love to hear everyone's opinion. Thanks

I'll defer to Delaware Golf for his opinion on right arm swinging or not, but regardless, Tomasello is teaching the 'magic' of the right forearm. Learn to get a good feel for your right forearm with a flat left wrist and a bent right wrist

Also from Homer's notes:
"The left arm is almost useless except as accumulator #4 in pivot strokes. The release comes as the left arm leaves the chest."

Tommy used the right arm for all strokes. Hitting and Swinging...it really became an issue of what hinging action do I need on this shot. Tommy also taught vertical hinging two different ways...one by actually manipulating the actual hinge with a square stance and the other version by the way he gripped the club and using an open stance a la Ben Doyle.
Watch the Hogan home movie and you will see nearly all right arm in his swing.
On Cassette tape, I have Tommy making the comment that he thought Hogan really swung a golf club like the way he (Tomasello) taught swinging...a right arm motion starting the downstroke (uncocking the right elbow from the top)...Tommy referenced the picture of Hogan on the cover of 5 Fundamentals when making that comment (hmmmm pretty bold statement considering the instruction in Hogan's 5 Fundamentals). I recently moved and I have that cassette tape packed away somewhere...if I can find it, I'll transcribe Tommy's commment and post it.

It's interesting to me, that when Tom is teaching what the arms do, he refers strictly to the folding of the arms and the outward hit of the right arm, but then seems to have a big preference for swinging in his swinging versus hitting video? However, when discussing what the arms do, he makes no reference to pulling the club, the left arm is just limp... Possibly right arm swinging??

HCW,
Checkout Tomasello's Hinge Action video located in the Gallery section....The Hinge Action video is chapter number 4. Tommy is executing all of the hinge motions with the Magic of the Right Forearm.

dg,
reviewed both ch4 and ch 9 (hitting/swinging) and i see how what you're saying how he equates HH w/swinging and AH w/hitting (something i'd been pretty much doing lately)...but i didn't see the details you mentioned on how to perform vertical hinging, which is something i've been puzzling over, so any expansion would be greatly appreciated!
