Since I use #1 accumulator only stroke with the ball very near low point, I attempt to establish the Clubhead Lag by starting my downstroke before the Backstroke motion is complete. On something like a 5-foot put where the backstroke would be fairly short, this has the feel and appearance of a jerky ungolflike motion. How should you establish the Lag?

Sustain,
I do use extensor action when putting even though I use more of a "shoulders only" #4 accumulator stroke.
I've tried zeroing out everything but #1 and as Mike O mentioned, I think it was too dramatic a departure from my prior pattern. However, if you are going to use a piston-like motion I'd check that you aren't
over-accelerating. Also, perhaps you're making the backstroke too short for the shorter putts, thus giving it that choppy look and the feel that you have to get "quick" at start-down in order to get it to the hole.
