Hip Turn / Action + Knee Action

Anyone,

Could someone describe / explain the motion of the hips and the knees for me. i have been trying to (unsuccessfully) use standard knee action with a shiftless turn and delayed hip action. I would assume that as the right leg straightens and the left leg bends the right hip would be higher than the left? however, my hips seem to level out as the shoulder turn and the club moves to the top. then as I tranition into the downswing the right hip 'pops over the top' and I get a sagging look to my leg action instead of my attempted Sam Snead sit down position. Any explanations would be appreciated.

In a proper BS, the tailbone should move closer to the target. Feels like you are mooning the target. If you don't you will move off the ball, and will require a lateral shift on the DS.

I was rummaging through the treasure trove of posts in the archives and found this one that I thought people working/thinking about their pivot might benefit from!

Nice find.

Send that post to VJ Trolio. Good caption for figure 32 on page 63. :)

Hips and Knees

The Hip and Knee Actions and Turns are interesting to look at, and need to be compatible with other parts of one's pattern.

I think something that is probably not discussed much, is that some of the things that go on with the knees and hips are caused by the dynamics of one's swing. Just doing them statically may not be what is actually happening. For example, there is a kind of deflection that can occur if things happen correctly, off the angle of the right leg, near the completion of the backswing, and into the transition. Ben Hogan talks some about this, and David Lee explains something similar dealing with his teaching technique.

What do you think?
