The Cut shot grip

This is a wonderful website and I have been amazed at how many questions I have had about TGM over the years that have been answered in this forum. So this is my first post and it concerns something which I thought I understood.

I was watching Yoda and VJ's video on the lob and cut shot. Yoda said something that I had never heard before and I want to make sure that I fully understand it. He said for the cut shot that you would rotate the club in the grip of your left hand thus opening the club face. I have always understood that you always grip the club with the leading edge of the clubface in line with the left arm as it hangs vertically. For a cut shot you would then just rotate then entire grip to the right, not just the club within the grip. When I watch the Doyle videos, he appears to rotate the entire grip(hands and club). Could someone clarify this for me?
