Henrik Stenson's Quiet Right Shoulder Putting Stroke
Just thought I'd hop across the Atlantic and into Scandanavia with a thread of my own.
:salut: It will be two years next month since I visited with you all -- y'all in my southern USA accent! -- and with my fast friend and student, Henning Lundstrom, GSEM, 2006 Swedish PGA Section Teacher of the Year. The occasion was the Swedish PGA Teaching and Coaching Summit in Halmstad. http://www.lynnblakegolf.com/forum/s...ead.php?t=2230. I miss you guys! The subject in this post is Henrik Stenson. Early in tonight's broadcast of the Accenture Match Play Championship, I noticed that, in his pre-shot Putting Routine, he does practice strokes with his right arm only while using his left hand to hold his right shoulder still. Later in the broadcast, TGC anchors Tilghman and Faldo called attention to this procedure. The analysis was correct, as far as it went -- Faldo on eliminating any 'over the top' move -- but so much (in my opinion) was left on the table. :crybaby: Still, it was attention-getting none-the-least! The Still Right Shoulder (and the bending Right Elbow / 12-5-1-#12) is the dictate of the Putt Minor Basic Stroke (10-3-E). It is the antithesis of the Paw Minor Basic Stroke (10-3-H) -- 'frozen' arms (bent or straight) and 'rocking' shoulders -- that is the favorite of many, if not most, PGA TOUR players. Question for those 'in the know': Is Henrik working with a Swedish instructor who has been TGM influenced? P.S. Whoa! I'm watching late-night coverage, and now Henrik's doing a split-grip On Plane Start Down Waggle. C'mon . . . who's been doin' what to whom? |

Henrik Stenson
Hi Yoda
We miss you here in Sweden, I hope to see you here again in the future:) . Henrik does not have a Swedish instructor, he is train by Peter Cowen. Johan |
Anybody able to get some footage of Henrik doing this stuff on youtube please....I have no satellite/Cable TV at moment...
KOC has ben quiet recently - he usually finds the footage somewhere! Anybody else able to help? Thanks. |
neither do I,
here is a link you could try, they send live, but without subtitles..... mms://onair.sbsgolf.com/golflive |
Pete Cowen
is known to be a very tecnical oriented instructor. I'll bet he's into TGM in some degree.
The preshot/practiceroutine Stenson does, I beleive is for feeling lag and lagpressure needed for the length of the putt. Could be a drill from the practice green that he likes to take to the course, right? |
I heard a rumour yesterday that Cowen and his assistans have spent some time with Mac.
