A Public Thanks to Kevin Carter and (YODA)

I saw Yoda was in Minnesota last month and gave a clinic at Medina CC with their teaching pro, Kevin Carter. After three months of poor golf, no compression, thin and fat hits, no divots and essentially no G.O.L.F. I had it and asked Kevin to give the swing a look. He watched me hit a total of about four shots and noticed immediately my underplane move at the startdown. He quoted Yoda and told me to swing up the plane to my finish position and only think of address, top and finish. I hit three shots with an iron he gave me and thought that I have not hit a 7 iron that good all summer. Then I realized it was a 9 iron. I gained at least fifteen to twenty yards on the irons, was hitting a draw with every shot and the sound was amazing. Kevin knows the book, and gives credit to this site and Yoda. If you are stuck in the north, and can't get to the swamp, have Kevin give it a look. Thanks Kevin, had a blast.

I am Humbled by this post.

I LOVE the work of Homer Kelley.
I LOVE the translation by Lynn Blake.

I am so happy to have helped a long time student of G.O.L.F. It helps me believe my teaching is on the right track. I wish you EVERY continued success Roger. Thank you very much for the encouragement!

Kevin

I had the privilege to have a lesson today with Kevin as well. We started the lesson with the MacDonald drills and chipping. That moved into talking about which pressure point/s we were using with each chip. The compression and results were so astounding I was almost speechless. I did say "almost."
We then went to the teaching range for some full swings. Just like with Dodger, right on the nuts. Kev showed me a photo from the book about a more direct delivery path to the ball. More success. Then more discussion about accumulators and pressure points. Focus on this and focus on that. The results are just astounding.
I was fortunate enough to be one of the folks who met with Yoda for a full day when he was up here for the PGA. Since that time G.O.L.F. has never been more fun. Kev constantly refers to stuff we learned from Yoda and we build from there. No ego involved; just G.O.L.F. and very clear communication.
I can't wait to see what he'll come up with in the next session.
It's the structure.

I would be the third member of the group Yoda worked with that day at Medina CC. JerryG, KevCarter and I have been working with the book since last winter in the local golf domes. KevCarter enthusiastic study of TGM principles has been amazing. Yoda's visit confirmed a lot of our thoughts, and caused in positive shift in KevC's teaching approach, to which his students have attested.

Personally, I have tried everything from S&T (worked for a little while) to mimicking Yoda's address position (working great right now), all with attention to proper alignments. Kevin has been patiently encouraging me and confirming lots of my thoughts -- I do like compressing that ball - turned into a range addict at times this year.

Thanks for all the help Kev (and the introduction to Yoda - a once in a lifetime experience!) Keep up the great work.

Also wanted to mention Matt has helped me in the past as well, although we have'nt gotten together in a few years. With guys like Kevin and Matt around, Minnesota will be on the G.O.L.F. map soon. We have more lakes than swamps, but I know we beat you southern guys when it comes to mosquitos.

Thanks guys!

I have only known Matt for a day at the PGA, but he has been a HUGE help in my learning as well. Matt knows his G.O.L.F. big time!

Hopefully we will all be able to make it down to the swamp for a visit with Yoda. I can't wait to learn more!

Kevin
