The important 60* wedge

By end of last year I upgraded from el cheapo DIY Silver Diamond MDC wedges to the new Vokey SM. I carry a 52*, 56* and 60*. The upgrade has been a mixed blessing. I seem to have lost a few options around the green with the 60* Vokey which happens to have 8 degrees of bounce and really plays as if it has a lot more from tight lies.

One of my favourite greenside shots is a high floppish chip with ball forward and vertical hinging. A semi-lob that doesn't require an aggressive release and god-given timing to produce reliable distance and roll. I can even do it from dirt lies if the club allows me to. But with the Vokey I can only do it if the ball sits on thick grass. And if the turf is firm I have to hammer the club down under the ball. And still then the trajectory is lower.

I'll probably put the MDC 60* back in the bag while I wonder whether there's any point in modifying the Vokey 60*

Question is what to do with it. (The MDC is really old and due for replacement) Grind off mass under Vokey to reduce bounce and create a sharper leading edge, and add led tape to compensate for mass loss? Will that work? I've built a few clubs in my time but I've never modified club heads. Or get another 60*?

Which 60* out there is the most workable wedge around the green? And what are your preferences and experiences when it comes to wedges?
