Rotary golf swing
Again, caught with too much time on my hands due to rain, and would you believe fire all in 1 day lol
I was browsing as one does and came upon Chuck Quintons rotary swing, there are some things i could subscribe to ,and some not. I enjoy the "feeling" along with basic ideals of the concept, the right arm drill isnt bad ,but have concerns for creating lag in the transition.........but, hey...im no pro by a long way and would enjoy some (as always) solid input from LBGers... Thanks in advance Bm:read: |

just had a conversation with a good friend (tgm coach) who told me of a student who learned it from a book, utilised with tgm and apparently hit very well,so there must be a fair bit of compatability there...im no coach, but i could see a lot of similarities....I also enjoyed ABT aspect....always be turning.
I would also enjoy input re Quintons no arms or hands in swing, pretty much all centrifugal force,in my opinion that combined with pivot and the "always be turning" would in itself take care of the "lag"equation without too much effort........cheers |
I looked at the Rotary Swing a few years ago when there was no RST, before I read the book though. In the end I did not jump in and pay for the access since I was working with an instructor here. I switched to the "slicefixer" type swing with the help of my instructor.
I've read here that these types of swing where difficult to reconcile with a RFT. |

It may be called a rotary swing, but I think it really only relates to the fact that he is really in fact talking in the main about shoulder plane ,or as its named "one plane"rotating around the spine which any normal swing really does anyhow. Also how the rotation never stops ,I think its really a simplistic golf swing,it relies simply on centrifugal force and for me,that in itself is a good thing especially for beginner as in it would be fairly easy to learn or teach.
I dont think its too distant from any normal swing ,its just got a few little subtle quintonistic additives,or his own little touches thrown in.........there is in one youtube clip where he told viewers to feel resistance on left side with arms and hands at the follow thru when chipping could be wrong but it would be akin to centripetal force(inward). For me ,I certaintly thought it is a nice easy swing...some of the drills may be different, especially the transitition bit,not my cup of tea:happy3: |
