Brandon Ray-Basic Motion
I thought some of you may enjoy seeing my Basic Motion practice from yesterday. I was inspired by Lynn's Golf Channel video.....it made me want to go right out and work on my alignments in Basic Motion.

I can't wait for this weeks lessons so that I can check the same alignments I am always working on myself!

A few notes for those with a critical eye, which is more than welcome.

All I felt in this shot was my right forearm fanning and then straightening.
I know this basic motion is too long.
I also know the clubface is slightly open at address, and I feel it opened a little too much in the backswing.
Also the hinge in follow through was closer to vertical then the angled I would like.
Finally I see my grip getting a little strong.

I guess as a teacher I can be fairly critical of myself.

However I liked the alignments and am looking forward to much more work on it. I will be posting my acquired and total motion soon.

Comments are welcome. Thanks for watching!

Do you feel like you are doing all the movements (feet, knees, hips, shoulders) like Yoda shows in this video?

No, I can employ the feet, knees, hips, and shoulders more with a body pivot defenitely, but in this basic motion attempt(again it was too long to be a true basic) I only feel the right arm fanning and straightening in a hitting procedure with PA #1.

I'm not trying to be critical - and only asking because I want to learn.

If your swing was a bit longer than it should be (for a basic motion), wouldn't that then be a acquired motion? But where are the other things that are required in addition to the pure basic motion? Then you maybe needed some of the stuff Yoda was showing after all?

Airair,

I didn't take your comment as critical at all. The motion after basic is Acquired, and as Yoda said so well in his Golf Channel Audition this motion is where one will acquire more body motion. The stuff in that ten minute video is gold....but who would expect less from Yoda!

Per my post in another thread, this video does not describe the TGM Basic Motion.

Hey Brandon,
Love your alignments! Looks like you've been doing a lot of work lately.
I am curious whether there is a little steering going on past the ball, where it seems that it would move more inward with what little pivot is present. Really is hard to say from that angle. Just curious.
Keep up the good work here in Charleston!

Bray question for you............what clubhouse is that behind you in your avatar? Nice looking place.

So would you say you use a Bat Minor Basic Stroke when you're doing that Motion? Fanning and bending. I do when Im not doing a Left Arm Pull. Im training them both in isolation, or trying to ....my left arm is a slow learner.
