Mark Blackburn, PGA, GSEM, is a true friend of LBG. An Englishman by birth, he is both a first class teacher and a first class player. Teaching out of his own facility at Gunters Landing Golf Club in Guntersville, Alabama, Mark was named the 2006 Dixie Section PGA
Assistant Player of the Year.
Mark and I first met in the spring of 2005 at a Workshop I conducted for a select group of PGA professionals from the Gulf States and Dixie Sections. LBG Pro Contributor
V.J. Trolio, PGA, GSEM hosted that event at his wonderful teaching facility at Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Mississippi. We last saw each other at my December 2006 school (also for professionals only) at Hombre Golf Club in Panama City Beach, Florida. Recently, he was added to our growing staff of LBG Professional Contributors. Expect to see more of Mark in these pages and as an Instructor in future LBG Academies.
Mark is also becoming known for his teaching success on the PGA TOUR, working with
Boo Weekly and
Heath Slocum. Boo regained his card this year based on his 2006 Nationwide play and was recently the subject of a feature article in
Golfweek. Heath won the Southern Farm Bureau Classic in 2005 after beginning his work with Mark and, in 2007, is off to the fastest start of his career. He leads the TOUR in Scoring Average and has two Top-10s and one Top-20 in his first three starts. Read about it (and his relationship with Mark) in his Player Blog feature posted this week on the PGATOUR.com website.

Congratulations, Mark, on your outstanding success. See you on the tee!
