Ok to study 6th edition?
I'm getting the 6th edition of TGM for Christmas because of a mistake by the gift giver. Just wondering, as far as learning the basics Yoda outlined in the steps to learning TGM, will the 6th edition work just as well as the 7th? Thanks.

I don't have the 7th.
My opinion is the 6th will do the job with the help of this forum.

King James is just as good as the Revised Standard.

To qualify as a supabooknerd . . . you should study all of the editions . . . there's some really great stuff in the 1st 3 and their easier to read.

The sixth edition was invaluable in preparing for and getting my G.S.E.B., in Feb. 2007. The test and study materials are mainly based on editions prior to the 7th edition. Due mainly to Mr. Kelley's sudden passing. My guess is that he updated the material for the book, before he was able to update test and study questions.
The main difference, in my observation, between the 6th and 7th edition was that some material had been moved from one section to another, and the wording of some passages was changed in an attempt to clarify the topic.
The overall concepts of The Golfing Machine are very much intact. In fact, my 6th edition is still vry much in use today.

To me (other than the big debate on the shoulder turn component) the big changes in the 7th are in the Flail Section in chapter 2 and the endless belt additions in chapter 6 in the aiming point part (not sure where aiming point is exactly but it's 6-E-sumpin'). Mr. Kelley has some invaluable stuff on Endless Belt in those to sections. MUST READ STUFF.

Moving Component #10 (Hinge Action) from Zone 3 (Ball Control / Hands / Direction) to Zone 2 (Club Control / Arms / Power) also was a 'biggie'. Especially given several conflicting text and title references elsewhere that were not edited for compliance.

Right on! Forgot about that one . . .
There are certainly some things that I'm sure would have been further hashed out if Mr. K had been here to write his own book . . .
There's some really good stuff in the 7th . . . I love the 7th, 5th and 3rd . . . kind of an odd numbers type thing . . . imagine that huh?

Yes.
Yoda did not learn from the 7th. Or 6th. I believe it was the 5th.
So...yes....it will suffice.

Actually, my 'first' was the 4th. It was signed:
Lynn,
May you rise higher and higher in its boundless basics. Sustain the Lag.

'79 Over the years, the bookend editions of '1, 2 and 3' and '5, 6 and 7' completed my library. And added to the fun. True afficienados must have them all.
