I have a question relating to the Tomasello tapes regarding the right wrist. I've spotted that this has been discussed before but I don't think it has been properly answered yet. Well at least the answer has yet to get anywhere near my brain!
In the videos (particularly chapter 3 regarding the hands), Tom starts his hands in their impact fix alignment. Flat left wrist and slight bent right wrist. He then talks about what the hands to in the backswing – roll the left wrist and bend the right. It seems to me as he rolls the left wrist he is adding extra right wrist bend. As he returns to impact the left wrist swivels back and the extra right wrist bend that he added during the backswing is returned to the amount of right wrist bend that was set at impact fix.
Now I am confused about this "adding extra" right wrist bend. I thought that once the amount of right wrist was pre-determined at impact fix – it is not bent any further during the backswing. Why is Tom adding extra right wrist bend and then flattening it slightly to get back to the amount of right wrist bend determined at impact fix?
I'm sorry for potentially opening up a can of worms – but I think this is important and really want to know what is going on here.
So are you saying that he is not adding any extra right wrist bend during the backswing, than what is needed for impact?
It's just that it looks to me (particularly in the Alignments chapter), that he is reducing the amount of right wrist bend when he is talking hitting out at the ball.
